NGK, the rise of a common man!

Watched NGK for the 2nd time today after all the negative dust about the movie got settled down, basically to discover the hidden layers of the characterisation of the lead protagonist awesomely played by Surya and to be very honest, got myself completely immersed into the indepth dimensions & shades sketched by the critically acclaimed director.  Selvaraghavan is surely ahead of our times as his narrative capabilities drive us to expect the unexpected.

In this movie, a common man known as NGK, who is intelligent & socially responsible, discovers politics is the most powerful medium in the world to bring in any dramatic change into the society.  Though it is first to reciprocate his gratitude, he forces himself to join the mainstream politics and being a quick learner, he establishes his sincerity & acquires confidence amongst his senior leaders.  The political strategist Vanathy, who works for the opponent party makes use of his intelligence & tries to dent the image of the ruling party in order to gain some mileage for her party that she works for.  Whereas NGK, when gets abducted by CBI based on CM's direct orders, tries to blackmail the CM himself & clinches a deal.  When he executes the deal by means of demonstrating a 'burning torch' procession, unexpectedly his friend who has been ailing with terminal cancer, subplots to sacrifice his own life for a good cause, without the very knowledge of NGK.  That incident while fetching a huge popularity for NGK, earns him a bad reputation in the eyes of both ruling & opponent parties.  Hence, both the parties, want to get rid off him as quickly as possible.  Finally, by paying a huge price of losing his parents, NGK emerges out to be a trust worthy leader, who decides to stay back in the opponent party itself which lost its tall leaders who got killed by their own partymen out of frustration.  His decision not to start a fresh party but to stick to one of the oldest parties, offers him huge success in the elections & the state crowns its new ruler NGK as their desired Chief Minister.

The bottom line is, if you want a change to take place, you be the change itself rather showing your fingers to others.  For which, be prepared to dare any ordeal that comes on your way in any format.

Besides politics, there are two contrast portrayals of female characters.  One is the strong possessiveness of Mrs. NGK which is loud & clear and the other is very cautious but subtle love interest of Vanathy admiring NGK's smartness which stays undercurrent.

I highly recommend NGK for a 2nd time watch to those who would have missed to notice the hidden layers embedded within, during their earlier visit.

I will not be surprised to see people acknowledge this movie in coming years as it generally happens.
